ACIM FIP 版における will と mind

FIP 版では、Urtext や HLC で will となっている言葉を様々に書き換える傾向があります。Will は現象の世界を越えた真実のあり方においてのみ用いるのがふさわしいと考えているようです。意図は分かるのですが、言葉を書き換えれば済むのでしょうか?

HLC と FIP を比較してみましょう。HLC ８E12 と、それに対応する FIP 8.V.1.5 - 2.3 です。

HLC 8E12.  Help them by offering them YOUR unified will on their behalf, as I am offering you mine on YOURS. Alone we can do nothing, but TOGETHER, our wills fuse into something whose power is far beyond the power of its separate parts. By NOT BEING SEPARATE, the Will of God is established IN ours and AS ours. This will is invincible BECAUSE it is undivided. The undivided will of the Sonship is the perfect creator, being wholly in the likeness of God, Whose Will it IS. YOU cannot be exempt from it, if you are to understand what IT is and what YOU are. By separating your will FROM mine, you are exempting yourself from the Will of God Which IS yourself.

FIP 8.V.1.5-8  Help them by offering them your unified mind on their behalf, as I am offering you mine on behalf of yours. Alone we can do nothing, but together our minds fuse into something whose power is far beyond the power of its separate parts. By not being separate, the Mind of God is established in ours and as ours. This Mind is invincible because it is undivided.
8.V.2.1-3  The undivided will of the Sonship is the perfect creator, being wholly in the likeness of God, Whose Will it is. You cannot be exempt from it if you are to understand what it is and what you are. By the belief that your will is separate from mine, you are exempting yourself from the Will of God which is yourself.

ピンクは変更されているところ、青は HLC と FIP で書き換えられていない will です。分離した意志と統合された意志について述べられています。FIP はもともと一つであった段落の途中で段落を分けて、前半では will を mind に書き換え、後半ではそのままにしています。

前半[8.V.1]の中だけでも分離した意志と統合された意志が出てきます。分離した意志だけ mind に変えて統合された意志をそのままにすると、読んで意味不明な文章になるので、統合された意志の方は 大文字の Mind にされています。

後半[8.V.2]になると分離していない will と見て、mind に変えないでそのままにしています。“By separating your will” を “By the belief that your will is separate” と変えているのは、分離しているように見えるのは錯覚で実は分離していないのだから、「分離することによって」というのは表現上に問題があると考えたものでしょう。それで「分離していると信じることによって」として、その分離が錯覚に過ぎないことに矛盾しない表現になっています。

ここでも分離している[と錯覚している]意志ですから、FIP の編集方針に従えば will を mind に書き換えるべきかもしれませんが、そうすると分離した意志と統合された意志、神の意志とのつながりが見えにくくなります。錯覚の世界と真実のあり方との二つのレベルを明確にするために用いる言葉を使い分けようとしても、どうしても統一できないのは、編集方針に無理があるからでしょう。

will を will と mind に書き分けずとも、「分離した」、「統合された」、「分割していない」という言葉によってたやすく読み取ることができるので、無理に手を加える必要があったのか疑問です。“Absence from Felicity” にヘレンが原稿を良くしようとして手を加えると結局矛盾が生じて、なるべく手を加えない方が良いというビルの方針に従わざるを得なくなる話がありますが、それは FIP 版にも当てはまるように思います。
