Urtext errata - Text Chapter 3

ACIM Urtext のE-Text をタイプ原稿をみながらチェックしています。
元データは ACIM The Scholar's Toolbox のHtml 版でHTML compilation version BETA 101009 H です。（現在公開されているのはBETA 011109 A で番号は公開された日付になっています。）Urtext のe-text の中でこれが一番誤植が少なく、問題点はヘレンの速記ノートに当たって確認してあり、聖書に関連する箇所の注も丁寧に付けられていて、お勧めです。

M はマニュスクリプト、N はノートの略号としました。 最初は意味は考えないで比較するだけのつもりでしたが出来るだけ読みながら進めるようにしています。これまでのところフロイトの評価が非常に高いことやエドガー・ケイシーへの言及がかなりあるのが意外でした。ヒュー・リン・ケイシーへの言及もあり、HLC が彼に送られた訳が分かりました。

T 3 で興味深かったのはビルのお父さんが彼のオフィスにやってきてめちゃくちゃにしたことなど、ビルと彼の父に関する確執[T 3 G 30]や教師と生徒の問題が Authority Problem に繋がっていくところ[G 36-42]、デカルトを高く評価していることやそれがビルへ与えられた祈り “Lord, here I am.” にも繋がるように見えるところ[G 44-46, H 12]、エデンの知恵の樹の解釈[I 7-8]など。

M では recognize に下線が引かれて強調されているところが抜けている。Urtext Manuscript では強調は大文字で示されているが、小文字の下に下線を引いて強調している部分もある。この下線はリタイピング後にノートと比較してチェックし、見落としたところをノートと同様に下線で示したと思われる。

M にある最後の閉じ括弧（最初の括弧に対応する）が脱落しているので追加する。

created の修正として created の上に括弧書きで（made）とされている。訂正が訂正されるものに先立つと意味が分かりにくいので順序を入れ替える。後ろの括弧内はその前の文章のcreated を made に直すという指示。creative では繋がらない。もとの文章がおかしいのはそのままにしておくのも一つの考えであるが... ちなみにノートは簡潔に This was an error. You should have said “made”.

ヘレンの速記ノート ハイレゾ画像ファイルの抽出方法

Helen Schucman の速記ノートについてですが、The Scholar’s Toolbox の高解像度PDFから画像ファイルを抽出する方法について書いてみます。必要なファイルはDVD版The Scholar’s Toolbox のPDF BINDERS フォルダの中に入っているファイルですが、最後にダウンロードできるURL を書いておきますので、必要な人はダウンロードして下さい。ソフトはAdobe Acrobat かPDF Explorer を使います。

以前Web に貼り付けようとして抽出したとき、鮮明度の落ちた画像が出てきて、圧縮率の高い画像が使われていると思い込んでしまいました。でもそれは錯覚で、抽出時のオプションで劣化していない画像を抽出することが出来ます。早く気づいていればハイレゾの画像ファイルを送ってくれるようにお願いしなくても良かったのですが。

まずAcrobat のメニュー「ファイル（F）」を開きます。次に「書き出し（T）」で「画像（I）」、「JPG」の順にクリックします。ここで「設定（E）」でオプションを設定します。デフォルトだと「ファイル設定」が「JPEG（中）」になっているはずです。ここを「JPEG（最高）」にします。OK をクリックして戻り、「保存（S）」をクリックすれば1頁ごとにJPG ファイルが抽出されます。

画像ファイルの抽出オプションが有効になるのは画像ファイルにテキストが追加されたPDF の場合で、テキストもグラフィック・データとして付加した画像ファイルを再構成するときにこのオプションが影響するようです。

速記ノートのPDF の場合テキストとしてヘッダ・フッタ、ラインナンバー、リファレンス用のパラグラフ番号が追加されているのでこのオプションが影響してきます。これらのテキスト情報を削除すれば手を加えていない画像ファイルを得ることが出来ます。

ヘッダー・フッターは「文書（D）」→「ヘッダとフッタ（H）」→「削除（R）」で削除。
ラインナンバーは「透かし（W）」→「削除（R）」。
パラグラフ番号は注釈で入力されているので「注釈（C）」→「注釈を表示（V）」→「すべての注釈を非表示（H）」で表示されなくなります。この状態で画像の抽出を実行すればオリジナルの画像ファイルが出てきます。

次にPDF Explorer を用いたやり方です。下記のところで紹介されています。

操作はメニューのファイルから直接PDF を開くことが出来ないのが分かりにくいですが、右下のディスク・ツリーで見たいフォルダを指定すればOKです。目的のファイルのチェックボックスにチェックを入れてウィンドの下にあるバッチ・ツールの画像抽出を選択します。これは追加されたテキスト情報は関係なしに画像情報だけ抽出できるようです。抽出時に何故か１頁目が最後になります。

ファイルはVol3 からvol17 まであって、vol3 とvol13から17まではそのまま vol3.pdf というファイル名になっています。vol4から12まではリファレンス用の注釈が入っているファイルでvol4_line_numbers_enabled.pdf（アンダーバーは半角スペースに置き換えて下さい）の様になっています。

ACIM High Resolution Notes facsimile manuscript images

ヘレン・シャクマンの速記ノート（e-textになってない方）をネット上で探すと二つ見つかります。

一つはDoug Thompson の The Scholar's Toolbox のPrimary Source library の中にあるPDF ファイル。解像度は低めですが、Text には Urtext と相互参照できるように、対応するUrtext の参照コードが付け加えられています。

もう一つはMiracles Center US のJesus' Course in Miracles にあるUr-Handscript.pdf かur-handscript のリンクにある 25rkzm.pdf です。こちらは解像度は高いですが、PDF に入っている画像がモノクロ2値（ドットが白か黒のみで構成されている）になっているので濃淡が分かりません。

それで高解像度でカラーのものが欲しくて、 High Resolution Notes facsimile manuscript images について問い合わせのメールをしてみました。そうするとDVD版のThe Scholar's Toolbox の PDF BINDERS フォルダの中に入っているノートの巻数ごとにまとめられているPDF とほとんど同様のものであるということでした。それでも入用であれば送ってくれるということなのでお願いしました。

すでにDVD版のThe Scholar's Toolbox は持っているので実質的にはオリジナルのJPG データを手にしてもメリットは無いと思いますがコレクターの心境です。

DVD版のPDFには一部検索しやすいようにラインナンバーと対応するUrtext のパラグラフ番号が記入されていますが、Text 部分全体に検索用のデータを追加した新しいノートPDFファイルをWeb 上にUPしたということでUrl を教えていただきました。まだリンクが張られていないので知らない人からは見えませんが近いうちに公開されると思います。

このノートのPDF の便利な利用法をついでに教えてもらいました。私は今までノートを調べたいときには、PDFについている栞からだいたい目的の頁に近いところにジャンプして、そこから目でPDF に記されているパラグラフ番号を探していました。
けれども検索を使うと一発で目標のところにジャンプできるんですね。画像がもとになっているPDF ファイルなので検索を使うということを思いつきませんでした。例えば検索欄に「3 b 4」と入力すれば、3 B 4、13 B 4、23 B 4 がヒットします。この技はWeb にあるノートfacsimile のpdf にも使えるます。

ついでにテキストの誤植や、Notes の e-text で一人称がアンダーラインで強調されている部分が大文字の強調に変えられて見えなくなっていることなどを知らせたら、私の変な英文でも通じたらしく、一人称の強調の件については良いことを指摘してくれたといってくれました。

左右シングル引用符の入力方法

ACIM Urtext の編集をword上で進めていて困ったことに遭遇しました。

修正・加工するのは、Miracles Center.us で拾った URTEXTW6.doc (Urtext_Ready_to_Print.pdf とほぼ同内容) と、ACIM Scholar's Toolbox のHtml 版のテキストをWord にコピーして作ったdocファイル。Urtext のファクシミリ版pdf を見ながら、問題が生じたときはNotes のファクシミリ版pdf と e-text 版pdfをチェックして作業しています。

そうしている内にdocファイルの中に半角の ' と全角の‘’が混在しているのが気になり、整理しようとして嵌ってしまいました。

置換で変えようとして半角の ' アポストロフィ で検索すると、全角の左右のシングルクォーテーションにも一致してしまいます。あいまい検索をオフにしているのに…。

とりあえず虱潰しに検索して一々手入力していくことにして、imeで変換して確定すると、確定したとたん希望の英字フォントにならずに日本語のフォントになってしまいます。Word のフォントのオプションが日本語と英数字用で分かれていて、シングルクォーテーションは全角扱いのようで、入力すると強制的に日本語フォントになる！確定後にまたフォントを変えてやらないと見栄えが悪くなるので、ime なしで入力する方法を調べてみるのですが、なかなか思ったようなものが見つかりません。英数文字しか入力しないのにimeを通すのは鬱陶しく、英米の人はimeを使ってないはずと思うのですが？

いろいろ調べた結果こうなりました。

まずWordの検索ですがunicode やansi のコードで指定するといいようです。 unicode 文字は^unnnn (nnnn は文字コード)で、ANSI 文字は^nnnで検索できます。ヘルプには^Uと大文字で書いてありますが、その通りにすると検索できません。コードの数値も指示がありませんでしたがunicodeもANSIも10進数で入力する必要があります。

シングルクォーテーション入力法
IMEを通さないで入力するのはキーボードのレイアウトファイルを変更することで出来ます。コントロールパネル「地域と言語のオプション」の入力言語のキーボードレイアウト/入力システムで「米国-インターナショナル」を選択します。これで言語バーで入力言語をENに切り替えるだけで入力できます。キーレイアウトはここを参照。

私はUSキーボードを使っているので、JISキーボードだと問題が生じるかも知れませんが、右Alt との組み合わせでいろいろ入力できるようになります。

スペイン語みたいに逆さまの！マーク ¡ や ¿ を頻繁に打つ必要のある人は知っているのでしょうけど、調べるのに時間がかかりました。その後Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator でキーボードレイアウトをカスタマイズし、ダブル引用符もIME無しで入力できるようにして使うことに落ち着きましたが、ここまで来るのに疲れ果てました。

引き続き正誤表です。２章は少ないのでどうでも良いような大文字と小文字の使い分けなどもあげてみました。これはもちろん個人の趣味の問題で、これでなければ間違っているわけではありません。

今速記ノートのe-text化・校訂作業が進んでいるようですが、その注でUrtext とNotes でのcapitalization や単語の選択（But とYet など)の違いに言及している箇所が、実は両者に違いが無く、違いがあるように見えたのは校訂が完了したはずのUrtext の中にHLC の表現が紛れ込んでいたためであるのを見かけました。もとが間違っていると建設的な考察のつもりが空振りしてしまいます。

A Course in Miracles 7vol Manuscript のText Chapter 1 をチェックして校訂のまねごとをしてみました。 最初は ASIDE（リタイピング時のコメントなどの挿話の表示）の後ピリオドになっているのをコロンに統一するとか細かく見ていきましたが、あまり重要でないので、そういうのは省いています。

きちっと自分の目で確かめようというきっかけは、Doug Thompson の校訂版がWeb で公開されるたびに、何処が変わったのかチェックしていたのですが、意外に問題となる点が多いのに気づいたからです。FIP版やHLCと共通する部分にUrtext でなく後に編集された版の痕跡が残っていたり、２００１年に出た最初のUrtext のe-text の“ACIM_Urtext_Ready_to_Print_Book.pdf” の誤植がそのまま残っていたりすることがあるようです。辞書の世界にも昔の辞書の間違えが延々と後続の辞書に引き継がれていくことがありますが、ACIM にも「親亀こけたら皆こけた」ということがあるようです。

元データはHTML compilation version BETA 101009 H です。コピーしてWordのスペルチェック・文章校正を参考にしながら、Urtext のマニュスクリプト（タイプ原稿画像のpdf）、やヘレンの速記ノートを参照しました。M はマニュスクリプト、N はノートの略号としました。上がもとの文章で下が修正後です。変えたところのフォントの色を変えています。html版で出版された本の誤植が一箇所訂正されているようで下の of が追加されています。タイプ原稿にあるのにe-text化の時に失われたところです。
